So, here we are! My first blog post, and I’m already struggling to find the right words.
Perhaps it’s best to start with my intentions for this blog. What do I want to accomplish with these posts? How do I hope to improve my life by writing here? Good questions…ones I hope to answer as the days roll on.
My initial feeling is that I’m just trying to stretch out my writing muscles. When I was 8 years old, I had decided I would be a writer when I grew up, but I didn’t exactly work hard at it. In school, I enjoyed homework assignments that revolved around writing and wrote for the school newspaper (if you can call a 5-page rag about whatever our group of nerds wanted to write about a “newspaper”). I pursued a journalism degree after high school but never finished it. And that was the moment I let my writing dreams die.
That’s a bit harsh. I didn’t let them die necessarily. More like I locked them up in a big box and shoved them into the darkest, most forgotten corner of my mind. That “dreams box” sat untouched for decades, just collecting gray matter dust. Then one day, I stumbled across a re-tweeted post on Twitter originating from the @CreepyCatalog account and everything changed.
Before we go any further, you should know that I have a fondness for horror. No matter what form it’s in…books, short stories, TV shows, movies, documentaries…if it’s creepy, mysterious or terrifying, I’m all in. Which is why that Creepy Catalog tweet caught my eye. To be honest, I don’t remember which story it was linked to or who wrote it, but it was how I came across the work of M.J. Pack.
I’ve seen countless iterations of this inspirational quote on the internet:
“We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason.”
I never gave it much thought, even though I’ve probably added it to a Pinterest board or two. But lately it’s become more meaningful to me. M.J. Pack is a very talented horror author. She is also extremely kind to her fans. Without that kindness, I know I wouldn’t be on this journey of discovering who I am and who I want to be.
It was through M.J. that I met Amy Venezia (aka “The Closet Clairvoyant“). Amy is also an extremely kind person. I watched her inspirational social media posts from afar till one day I requested a Life Review Psychic Reading. The simple and profound guidance that Reading gave me was a true game changer.
